Motorsport

Although we are now not involved in the workshop side of the Motorsport industry. We take the opportunity to run our own Sierra Cosworth at various events. We were invited to take part in the 2018/19 Bathurst Reunion held at Hampton Downs running the international circuit, where we competed against a mix of 4, 6, and 8 cylinder cars from the earlier Bathurst period. This is the vehicle built from ground up by Lodge Auto Centre. The vehicle ran faultless for the entire event, some great battles were had with other competitors.

Vehicle was purchased by Lindsay O’Donnell and brought to New Zealand in 1994. Scott and Lindsay O’Donnell campaigned the car very successfully in the South Island for the next eight years. Changes were made to the car mainly for the purpose of endurance racing. Changes included dry break fuelling system, Proflex four-way adjustable shock absorbers, AP rotors and calliper’s front and rear, gear box and differential oil coilers. Fundamentally the car is still very much Group N style and specifications.

Luke Parker purchased the car from Lindsay O’Donnell in 2003. Shortly after that the engine suffered a failure. Luke had an engine built by HiTech Motorsport in Pukekohe. Unfortunately, the vehicle had a skirmish with a wall at Hampton Downs in 2010. Luke had good intensions of repairing, but other commitments waylaid this happening.

Mid 2018 I (Richard Field) purchased the vehicle in a non-repaired state. A plan was put together and the car repaired to a high standard both mechanically and body wise by Lodge Auto Centre Ltd . The car underwent a Motorsport NZ audit (with no items requiring attention) January 2019 when it ran at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. The handling, drive, power and brakes were most impressive to say the least, no issues or gremlins with the car all day. The car is fully compliant and ready to run in competition. A copy of products repaired or replaced during the rebuild is available on request. All documentation comes with the vehicle.
